Cold winter weather poses risks to residential buildings. Snow and ice buildup can cause damage to roofs and gutters. Falling snow and ice are major safety hazards. Exposed pipes can freeze and burst, leading to expensive repairs. nVent RAYCHEM offers several different solutions for these issues. The easiest to use is the nVent RAYCHEM FrostGuard system.

Plug-and-play FrostGuard heating cables are designed for pipe freeze protection and for roof and gutter de-icing. They feature nVent RAYCHEM self-regulating cable technology, which is safe, efficient, and long lasting. Self-regulating cables automatically increase their output as the temperature drops and decrease it as the temperature rises. They can also be installed without concern for precise spacing or the cable overlapping itself.

120 V FrostGuard cables come pre-assembled with an integrated 6-foot power cord and a lighted plug. 120 V FrostGuard cables are rated for indoor and outdoor use, making them ideal for both pipe freeze protection and for roof and gutter deicing.

240 V FrostGuard cables include a 6-foot power cord with pigtail for termination in a junction box and are designed for pipe freeze protection in dry areas.

Confident DIY’ers can easily install 120 V FrostGuard themselves using nVent’s detailed installation instructions. There is also an easy-to-use Roof and Gutter De-icing Calculator to determine what length of cable is needed to protect the roof and gutter system.

Homeowners who want to take this project on themselves can use the Where To Buy tool on the nVent RAYCHEM website to locate an authorized FrostGuard distributor, but there’s plenty of help available for those that aren’t interested in a do-it-yourself project!
